The results of hydrological studies carried out in August 1982 in the mixing zone of the Mekong River and the South China Sea are presented. Temperature, salinity, currents of surface and near-bottom waters were studied. The complex distribution of these parameters in surface waters have been established, which is connected with the influence of the Mekong River runoff. The boundary between fresh and salty waters has been determined. The semidiurnal periodicity of changes in the direction of currents associated with tidal processes has been revealed. In general, a complex daily variability of hydrological characteristics associated with the river runoff regime, tidal phenomena, and changing meteorological conditions has been established.

摘要
