Wealth and the Rich
摘要
This chapter defines what wealth and income mean and discusses the distribution of money in the population. It looks at who the super-rich are and how some are spending this wealth in the name of sustainable development. The chapter argues that wealth does not come without environmental impact, which is a knowledge gap in the SDGs. The relationship between wealth and the built environment is examined throughout projects that are both huge in scale and cost, including proposals for new cities and nuclear power stations. There is a discussion of the relationship of such ventures to sustainable development and the SDGs. The chapter proposes that through the eyes of climate change, the design of buildings and the built environment are a product of wealth and that this needs to change.
