Postpartum Haemorrhage
摘要
Postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) is still a leading direct cause of maternal death in both low- and high-income countries. PPH can be prevented by an active third stage of labour that means a prophylactic application of uterotonic (Oxytocin 10 IU IM or 5 IU IV) after cord clamping. Alternatively, heat stable Carbetocin (100 μg IM) can be used [2]. Active management of third stage of labour reduces mean maternal blood loss at birth and probably reduces the rate of primary blood loss greater than 500 mL and the use of therapeutic uterotonics [2, 3].
