Advances in the field of endocrine surgery have led to the development of remote-access parathyroidectomy (RAP). Though many approaches have been developed and implemented, each with its own unique advantages and disadvantages, the most common of these include the transaxillary and transoral approaches. This chapter discusses parathyroidectomy by the transaxillary and transoral approaches in detail, including appropriate patient selection, operative technique, and clinical outcomes.
