This article examines the growing trend of dark tourism and its application in the city of Bucharest, Romania. Through an exhaustive analysis, the phenomenon of dark tourism is addressed, which involves visiting places marked by death, suffering and significant historical events. The study focuses on the implementation of dark tourism as a diversification strategy with the participation of local agents and external experts in order to provide a neutral historical narrative treated with respect. We will highlight the opportunities provided to us by considering how dark tourism has transformed the tourist experience and contributed to the understanding of history and cultural memory.
