Sequencing the whole genome of humans in the year 2000 and its availability in the public domain has opened the doors for its expeditious analysis and organization of the genes using the computational tools. This has revolutionized our understanding about the individual genetic makeup at the single nucleotide level and the differences that exist in the genetic makeup of two different individuals precisely. Similarly, separation of proteins by two-dimensional gels, their amino acid analysis by mass spectroscopy, their tissue localizations, and their interactions with DNA, RNA, proteins, lipids, and carbohydrates is expanding our horizons to frame the hypothesis and to propel our understanding of the disease biology better. Omics technologies such as genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, epigenomics, meta-transcriptomics, and microbiomics are indispensable tools now, which can push the realms of human biology especially in crucial areas such as disease screening, diagnosis, and target identification and in therapeutic interventions. The contributions of such technologies to the understanding of disease biology in humans and livestock are immense and invaluable. We briefly review here how the omics technologies are aiding us to understand human disease biology better by dissecting and discerning its intricacies, thereby alleviating the human suffering.

摘要
