The word “logic” comes from the Greek word __________, which has various meanings, including “verb,” “idea,” “reason,” and identifies the study of the relations between propositions, that is, between statements that can be true or false. Among logic goals there is the study of reasoning, its arguments, and the laws that govern it. Thus, logic is concerned with the study of the methods of proving a statement, how it is derived from prior concepts, and so in a sense, logic is a part of mathematics (and philosophy) that deals with the search for truth.
