The Open Educational Resources (OER) are the new frontier of the accessibility to knowledge. This new philosophy allows every person, in every part of the world to access to every Open Resource, with a view to the lifelong learning. This contribution tries to connect the Open philosophy with the Objective 4 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of 2030 Agenda, which aims at improving basic education all over the world and decrease the illiteracy rate worldwide. Infrastructural interventions are of course needed: school buildings, digital and technological tools are essential to have access to OER; nevertheless, this can be the viaticum to fulfill the Objective 4 of SDGs, following the still ongoing questioning of the Humboldtian conception of knowledge and university organization. The Open Access is already changing (and simplifying) the way of learning: this work presents an overview of the possibilities offered by the Open philosophy in order to improve knowledge and social possibilities all over the world.
