The concluding chapter connects the theoretical, conceptual, empirical and policy-making threads of the analysis together. First, it sums up the strategic benefits and risks the global energy transition generates for the EU across the energy security, economic power, foreign policy and power position dimensions, and distills the main dilemmas lying ahead for the EU as the global energy transition unfolds. Second, it summarizes the main synergies between the global energy transition and peace and cooperation, and the five key security threats the global energy transition generates from the vantage point of the EU, offering a snapshot of suggested EU strategic responses. The chapter also contextualizes the effects of the global energy transition within International Relations theory. Last, it offers suggestions for forthcoming research agendas, setting out in particular the need for further academic enquiry on climate geopolitics.

摘要
