Metaverse to Shape Stakeholder Interaction for Scaling Up Sustainable Co-innovations
摘要
Although the benefits of the metaverse are reported in cutting-edge literature, few studies show how the metaverse can contribute to interaction with stakeholders. Based on stakeholder theory, this article investigates the current state of metaverse capabilities to shape companies’ engagement with their stakeholders and expand solutions for sustainable co-innovation in the supply chain. Using a scalar-type questionnaire (Likert), primary data was collected from multinational companies in Brazil. This study is original, fills a gap in the literature and makes substantive contributions: (i) it shows the current state of metaverse capabilities to shape companies’ engagement with their stakeholders and scale sustainable innovations in the supply chain; (ii) sheds light on managers who intend to integrate metaverse into their strategies as a lens to rethink conventional ways of managing their stakeholders and amplify the development of new sustainable products and services; (iii) advances literature arguments on metaverse capabilities and stakeholder engagement for sustainable co-innovated solutions in the supply chain.
