The paper presents a preliminary study on behavioral aspects of information security. Basing on the relevant literature it proposes a causal path model with Information Security Success Perception as a focal dependent variable. It introduces modifications to the model presented within the literature, introducing the Uncertainty Avoidance – an additional predictor expressing the degree to which individuals avoid ambiguity and uncertainty as well as the Response Cost – an additional mediator expressing negative aspects of information security compliance. The model is validated (using PLS path modeling) on the chain-referral sample of 35 respondents and expresses sufficient validity and reliability. The study results indicate the need for a more insightful investigation of the factors that determine the role of Response Cost in Information Security Success Perception. The study is a starting point for an extended research based on significantly bigger data samples.
