Climate change remains a major challenge facing the world in the twenty-first century. Its complex and dynamic nature requires multi-dimensional and multi-sectoral mitigation and adaptation approaches enabled by a dynamic policy framework. One of such approaches is the adoption of carbon management technologies such as carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS). Nigeria is not exempted from the impacts and grave consequences of climate change as a result of the persistence of gas flaring and GHG emissions from her various industrial sectors. This posits the country as a major actor with enormous responsibilities in the global climate change mitigation efforts. Hence, this chapter explores the status of CCUS development in Nigeria particularly, the legal framework, policies and norms relevant to CCUS in Nigeria, as well as the gaps and challenges relating to CCUS development in Nigeria. The chapter concludes with some reflections on CCUS development in Nigeria and the lessons learnt.
