Low-Energy Attendance System Based on IoT Technology

The low-power Internet of Things (IoT)-based commuter system is designed to minimize energy consumption through the utilization of efficient energy sources and optimized software processes. This system incorporates sensors and microcontrollers, utilizing low-power wireless communication protocols to ensure reliable and energy-efficient operation. The current study focuses on the development and execution of an IoT technology-driven attendance system. The initial sections of the study outline the system requirements and review existing solutions. Moreover, the hardware and software elements essential for this system were devised, with the ESP32 microcontroller serving as the central unit, the RC522 RFID reader for individual identification, and the OLED display for presenting attendance details. The Materials and Methods segment provides a detailed account of the various stages involved in designing and implementing the attendance system. Through rigorous testing, a number of challenges were identified and effectively addressed. The proposed attendance system fulfills key criteria such as precision, dependability, user-friendliness, security, and cost-effectiveness. The primary contribution of this study lies in the development of a comprehensive attendance system that leverages contemporary technology to enhance and simplify the process of monitoring employee attendance.
