The contribution presents a case study in which Slovenian teachers were educated to use AI to overcome language barriers in intercultural communication with parents of immigrant and migrant children. The consequence of the immigration of foreign citizens to the Republic of Slovenia is an increasingly higher percentage of immigrant children in public schools and kindergartens. Regardless of the initial position of immigrant children, upon enrollment in the Slovenian educational system, their legal status is equalized with that of all other enrolled children. The problem that arises is how to enable effective integration for these children, ensure equal participation, and successfully overcome any difficulties that may occur due to the different language or cultural environment they come from. The key to successfully integrating refugee children is cooperation with their parents. Intercultural communication between teachers and parents is hindered not only by the fact that they speak different languages but also by the fact that they come from different cultural, historical, ideological, and religious backgrounds. The use of AI in communication with parents has provided insights into the parents’ views on intercultural respect, acceptance of children in the school environment, and the educational program’s level of individualization. Comparing these views with the views of teachers in the INTREF project, which is aimed at developing educational modules for the successful integration of refugee children into the Slovenian, Slovak, Turkish, and German school and cultural environments, has enabled us to identify the needs and definitively define the contents that should lead to the realization of the project’s objectives.

摘要
