Understanding P2P Platform’s Growth: Determinants of Peer-Provider Participation in Digital P2P Platforms
摘要
We propose a conceptual framework that integrates individual, platform, ecosystem, and macro-level determinants to explain what drives individuals to become peer-providers on peer-to-peer platforms (P2P). P2P platform’s growth is intricately tied to the active engagement of peer-providers. These platforms rely on external individuals, or peer-providers to contribute essential assets, which means that without the participation of these peer-providers, the operations of P2P platforms would not be possible. Despite the pivotal role of these contributors, existing literature lacks a comprehensive understanding of the factors motivating their participation in the platform. In response, we offer a holistic view of the factors that influence peer-provider participation in digital P2P platforms, and based on our framework, we develop some directions for further research.
