Hardware-Assisted Security of Smart IoT Applications
摘要
In the Internet and digital era, electronic circuit designs and software solutions for happy living beings are at peaks. Digital-cum-automated solutions associated with physical objects have given birth to the Internet of Everything (IoE) and the Internet of Things (IoT). However, at the same time, ethical and unethical hacking practices of software solutions and physical things become vulnerable. It is very challenging to keep banking transactions, data privacy and security, and digital safety locks at home, offices, libraries, etc., away from such malpractices. The most dangerous impacts include medical equipment implanted in the human body and automatically transmitted automobiles if somehow compromised can lead to critical hazards. The software solutions available so far only are not sufficient, and so in addition, embedding hardware security is essentially required and beneficial to achieve multilayered security. The embedded and physical-level security is currently one of the focused concerns of the research community. This chapter includes a 360° view of such security challenges and the hardware-enabled and assisted solutions available in the various research real-life problem domains.
