Compressive Strength of Epoxydic Composite Reinforced with Coffee Ground Waste
摘要
Coffee, in its liquid form, is consumed globally. Brazil ranks as the second highest consumer, which leads to significant waste. This study aims to evaluate the compressive strength of a composite materialComposite material made from epoxy resinEpoxy resin and coffee groundsCoffee grounds for use in High Performance CoatingHigh performance coating (HPC). The compressive strength of such compositesComposite is crucial, as it measures a material's ability to endure compressive forces. Thus, specimens were prepared with coffee groundsCoffee grounds at volume fractions of 0, 5, 10, 15, and 20%, and cured at room temperature for 48 h. The testing was conducted according to ASTM D695 standard. The results indicated that coffee waste can effectively be used as reinforcement in polymer compositesPolymer composites for HPC applications.
