Development of Low-Density Floating Flux for Magnesium Recycling Process
摘要
The use of magnesium alloysMagnesium alloy is increasing in various industries due to the increasing demand for lightweight transportation and electronic devices. Accordingly, the need for effective recyclingRecycling technology for magnesiumMagnesium waste parts and scrap is increasing. Currently, the magnesium alloyMagnesium alloy recyclingRecycling method commonly used in industry is to apply fluxFlux to the re-melted magnesiumMagnesium to separate impurities and inclusions. When a fluxFlux is applied to the surface of the molten metal, it adsorbs impurities and, due to its high density, settles to the bottom as sludge. Accumulated sludge must be removed periodically to prevent product contamination, which increases process costs. In this study, a novel method was applied to remove sludge by floating it on the melt surface using a fluxFlux with a lower density than magnesiumMagnesium. Our results confirm that this approach effectively prevents sludge accumulation at the bottom of the melt.
