The Twenty-Third Letter
摘要
The last chapter of Living the Letters makes use of a kabbalistic tradition according to which there is a twenty-third letter of the Hebrew alphabet which has yet to be revealed. Reviewing the themes of the preceding chapters, this closing reflection looks to the future, distinguishing between the ineffable, the unspeakable, and the unknown. It speculates on what some of the great questions of Jewish life in the coming generations might be, and it invites readers to construct their own alphabets of meaning and commitment.
