Art, Crafts and Design: Interrelations
摘要
This study starts from the concepts related to art, craftsmanship and design, their ambiguities, interrelationships and connections in their respective updates during different times, involving actions, technical and material terms, from social transformations and contextualisation. This work starts from the following hypothesis: there are several intersections, in various aspects, between art, craft and design, and they contribute to the conceptual evolution of each of the sectors and, at the same time, to the interaction between them. The transversal link between them encompasses fashion and sustainability. The methodology used opts for a synthesis and adaptation mainly by the authors: Löbach, Munari and Baxter. It is also considered that, within the chronology, it becomes evident that the concept of design has its origin from the Industrial Revolution and that it already appears in conflict with the artists of the time, which provokes, since then, discussions, although empirical, based on the praxis between the roles that would belong to the artist, the artisan and the designer from that time onwards. In this study, there was a concern about seeking reality beyond the physical appearance of objects. Thus, it is understood to be interesting, from the beginning, to clarify concepts related to art, crafts and design.
