Low-impact traumatic hip fractures are a significant and common in our aging population. Understanding this injury in the context of aging helps us care for these patients during this sentinel event and vulnerable time. Exploring cognitive and functional baselines of the older adult better equips us to manage their medical complexity. Keeping in mind the normal physiologic changes of aging also better equips us to provide safe and appropriate care throughout their hospitalization.
