Tibial shaft fractures are commonly encountered injuries for orthopedic traumatologists as well as orthopedic surgeons taking Emergency Department call. Both presurgical and postoperative care have evolved over the last decade to optimize alignment and union rates in these injuries. Careful preoperative factoring in anatomical location, fracture pattern, and associated injuries can lead to successful treatment of these injuries.
