The standard processes of language documentation that are followed in advanced countries encounter different kinds of challenges in the documentation of endangered languages of South Asia and Southeast Asia. These differences are caused due to differences in perspectives, purposes, methodologies, goals, and implementation of documentation techniques. In simple terms, the challenges that are normally found among the South Asian and Southeast Asian languages are unique in nature due to the presence of several different kinds of linguistic and extralinguistic factors and elements related to these languages and communities.
