Gotthilf Heinrich Schubert (1780–1860): Symbolism of Dream and the Idea of a Better Medicine
摘要
After a short biographical outline with a view to people who had a special influence on Schubert, the chapter focuses first on Schubert’s literary works. Although Schubert was never a popular author, we can see some of his scientific ideas and innovations in the literary work, especially in his novel Die Kirche und die Götter. With the knowledge about his influences and his literary works, I will focus on the academic work of Schubert and his theory of the so-called physica sacra and a new form of medicine, which includes medical and philosophical innovations of the time but also pietistic ideas. In a final conclusion, I will take a look at Schubert’s significance for modern psychology.
