White strip defectsWhite strip defects are common surfaceSurface imperfections in battery aluminum foilsAluminum foil characterized by brighter strips at certain positions across the foilFoil width that significantly affect the surfaceSurface uniformityUniformity of the foilFoil. This study combines theoretical analysis and system testing to investigate the generation mechanism of white strip defectsWhite strip defects in 1070 battery aluminum foilsAluminum foil. The findings indicate that factors leading to white strip defectsWhite strip defects primarily include metallurgical quality and rolling processes. The white strip defectsWhite strip defects are attributed to higher titaniumTitanium content. This is due to the enrichment of titaniumTitanium in the front box and the abnormal flow fieldFlow field in the castingCasting nozzle, resulting in titaniumTitanium segregation at specific positions of the castingCasting and rolling billet. On the one hand, during the rolling deformation process, because there are more Al3Ti particles at the segregated titaniumTitanium location, causing differences in microstructureMicrostructure and textureTexture compared to normal locations, with significantly strong {123} <634> S textureTexture. On the other hand, the higher presence of Al3Ti particles increases the hardness at defect positions compared to the aluminumAluminum matrix, accelerating roll wear and resulting in uneven surfaceSurface conditions that also contribute to white strip defectsWhite strip defects.
