Coarse intermetallicIntermetallic formations also occur based on element ratios and solidificationSolidification rates in 8000 series alloys, which can lead to issues like cracking and tearingTearing in final foilFoil products. This study investigates Al–Fe–Mn intermetallicsIntermetallic formed in the 8000 series alloy under different solidificationSolidification conditions. MetalMetals samples taken from free solidificationSolidification zones are re-melted and solidified under different conditions. Then, SEM-EDS analysis is used to investigate the formations within the solidified samples.
