Over the last few decades, interest in the Austrian School of Economics has increased in the United States and around the globe. This has both academic and political reasons. From the academic perspective, the sequence of economic crises (the financial and economic crisis or “Great Recession”, the COVID-19 pandemic) has raised doubts about the ability of mainstream (“orthodox”) economic theory to provide adequate explanations of such phenomena and valid recommendations to politicians to deal with them. Looking for alternative (heterodox) theories is a natural reaction in such a situation, and besides Marxist, Neo- and Post-Keynesian, Neo-Ricardian, Institutionalist and other approaches, Austrian Economics has also been proposed as an alternative, despite (or perhaps: because of) the divergent political conceptions behind these different “unorthodox” schools.

摘要
