This study investigates the interconnections between water resources, geology, and urbanization in Jordan, a country grappling with severe water scarcity exacerbated by climate change and rapid urban growth. Jordan's diverse geological formations and varied climatic zones influence its topography, water resources, and land cover. Using Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), the study assesses land cover changes over four decades, revealing significant urban expansion, especially in areas with higher rainfall, which has strained water resources and depleted aquifers. The decline in rainfall has further impacted agricultural productivity and water availability. To address the water crisis, the study advocates for a holistic approach that combines advanced geospatial technologies, scientific research, policy reforms, and community engagement, emphasizing water conservation, efficient irrigation, wastewater recycling, desalination, and robust water governance to ensure long-term sustainability.

摘要
