This paper will present and discuss the problems and dilemmas encountered during the realization of the MEHART project. The goal of this project was to document, preserve and make accessible the historical mechanism of the Petrovaradin Clocktower. The project was further expanded to include students studying at the Department of Mechanization and Machine Design, at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad. The project was a success, with the mechanism being documented in the form of a digital 3D model made in SOLIDWORKS, as well as in the form of technical documentation of each part and subassembly. During this process, there were many problems and dilemmas encountered both by the students and by the team of Faculty staff, and both them and their solutions will be discussed in this paper.
