Dimensional Calculation of the Main Beam of a Technical Equipment Intended for the Amusement Industry

The article is another part of the current research and overall design of the amusement facility. The main objective of the present paper is the design and strength analysis of the main beam as one of the main components of the equipment working in the amusement industry. The main beam of the amusement equipment is verified by analytical calculations for the required deflection according to EN 13814 standard and checked by numerical method in ANSYS software. On the basis of the calculation scheme and the obtained loading forces concerning the geometry of the beam, the bending moments and shear forces are calculated using the imaginary cut method. RHS 1300 × 500 × 30 rectangular hollow rolled section is selected for the main beam and the beam will be made of S355 J0 material. As the calculated maximum deflection of the main beam of 1.59 cm is less than the calculated allowable deflection according to EN 13814 of 1.71 cm, the selected beam profile can be considered suitable for use in the construction of the proposed amusement device. The amount of deflection of the main beam obtained in Ansys software using the finite element method was also smaller compared to the allowable deflection as well as the deflection determined by the analytic method. Thus, the selected main beam is satisfactory and can be utilized for the proposed type of amusement device.
