Enhancing Environmental Sustainability in Large Cities Through the Implementation of Park Zones
摘要
Urban parks, beyond being beloved recreational spaces for city dwellers, play a crucial role in enhancing air quality. This is particularly relevant for modern megacities and large urban centers experiencing rapid growth and expansion in all aspects, especially in their transportation infrastructure. A comprehensive analysis of the necessity of implementing park zones revealed a strong correlation between their criteria and a detailed assessment of the ecological aspect. A significant shortage of green spaces in major Russian cities was identified. During the data collection process, the main streets of the city under consideration were determined, and the intensity of traffic flow along them was calculated, taking into account the vehicle composition. Based on the obtained data, the content of carbon monoxide in the air near the studied objects was calculated. The calculations showed a significant exceedance of the maximum permissible concentration of the substance and, consequently, an urgent need for implementing measures to address this issue. To enable the import of the obtained data to other transport facilities in both this city and others, a calculation of the average weighted values of the traffic flow composition was performed. The obtained data confirmed an insignificant difference in the compositions. Expanding green spaces in cities not only contributes to creating a comfortable environment for residents but also to forming a healthy ecological environment that promotes the conservation of natural resources.
