Assessment of the Green Urban Structure and its Role in Promoting Sustainable Environmental Development in the City of Karbala, Republic of Iraq
摘要
This research investigates and assesses the function of green infrastructure in the urban area of Karbala, emphasizing its substantial significance in facilitating possibilities for leisure and the appreciation of natural surroundings for the city's inhabitants. Municipal and urban planning agencies are now engaged in actively developing many parks and public gardens strategically positioned to align with the specific needs and preferences of residential neighborhoods. This statement highlights the research's emphasis on the worldwide planning standards for allocating these regions. It investigates the spatial distribution of these areas via the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This research estimates whether green space is adequate for the residents of Karbala, the differences in per capita green space, and the visual disparities between different communities. The basis for this is that the distribution of green spaces could be random, depending on the size of unused land parcels, which may cause a significant diversity in the availability of these places between different communities. It has shown a marked inequity in the distribution of green spaces, and this is a call for the rapid development of improved urban planning policies that match global standards on sustainable environmental development. These can make the city more adaptive to climate changes and natural calamities and can be derived from the results and recommendations of this research.
