Computer Simulation of Column Heating with Electric Heating Cable

The paper focuses on electric heating of a real, in-situ reinforced concrete column, which has never been examined before. The column heating is simulated in the ELCUT Pro 6. 3 software. The purpose of this work is a solution of the thermodynamic problem of concrete heating with electric cables at low negative temperatures. Design parameters of the concrete thermal treatment are set in the WinConcret add-in and include the column geometry, type and size of its heat insulation, types and specifications of transformer providing the required heating power, concrete grade, cement consumption, and of heating cable types. The thermal treatment conditions of the in-situ reinforced concrete column are determined to provide the required strength of concrete. This type of thermal treatment is known to be rather effective in winter conditions and universal, as the electric heating cable can be used in structures of any configuration and reinforcement. The appropriate use of electric heating cables makes it possible to obtain high-quality reinforced concrete structures built at negative ambient temperatures.
