Decoding Leadership Effectiveness: Implicit and Culturally Endorsed Leadership Theories and Implications for Management
摘要
Decoding the principles of leaders’ influence over followers seems vital for effective leadership. The chapter explores implicit and culturally endorsed leadership theories (ILTs/CLTs), which deal with mental models that followers hold about effective leaders. By understanding these cognitive frameworks, leaders can enhance their ability to inspire, communicate, and negotiate with others. The chapter reviews key literature on ILTs/CLTs, showing how these theories shape a leader’s legitimacy, authority, and acceptance from the followers’ perspective. It clarifies the conceptual foundations of ILTs/CLTs and identifies prevalent themes within the discourse. The final section discusses managerial implications and suggests avenues for future research.
