The spread of Coronavirus 2019 has had a significant impact in all hospital departments, starting in December 2019. Hospitals were forced to reorganize the management of wards and that of patients, organizing more appropriately the admission of patients. Managing factors that impose higher costs for hospitals is necessary for process optimization, in particular for parameters such as inadequate hospitalization and length of stay (LOS). The following work aims to assess the impact of COVID on the Department of Plastic Surgery at the University Hospital “Federico II” of Naples (Italy) by comparing the procedures’ effectiveness before and after COVID-19 pandemia. The data were collected in the year 2019 and 2020 and the logistic regression technique was used for the analysis. The results underline that the LOS values in the year of COVID decreased while the DRG weight value increased, mainly due to the limitation constraints that increase the weights of population.
