Parallel Photovoltaic Inverters Equipped Active Power Filters: Autonomous Mode and Grid Connection Mode Operations

This paper proposes the study of a microgrid system based on photovoltaic sources capable of ensuring the operation in autonomous mode and grid connection mode considering the optimal power flow control using the Droop controller and the power quality improvement using an Active Power Filter. The proposed microgrid is composed of parallel individual PV inverters controlled in Droop mode. The second PV inverter is combined with an active power filter used to improve the energy quality. The simulation results, in different scenarios of operation of the system, indicate that the proposed system with the control strategies is an ideal microgrid that ensures optimal power flow control, the power sharing and is capable of improving energy quality.
