Optimizing Geothermal Heat Exchangers Performance for Energy- Efficient Poultry House Heating

This paper analyzes the performance of heat exchangers in a geothermal system designed for heating a poultry house in a harsh climate. The study focuses on a traditional poultry house in Algeria, employing a ground source heat pump (GSHP) system with plate heat exchangers. Data was collected over a day, monitoring indoor and soil temperatures, energy consumption, and system efficiency. Results indicate that the geothermal system significantly reduces energy consumption and operating costs compared to conventional heating methods. The system achieved substantial CO2 emissions reduction, demonstrating a positive environmental impact. The paper analyzes the performance of the plate heat exchangers, highlighting their thermal efficiency and heat transfer characteristics. The findings demonstrate the viability of geothermal systems for poultry house heating, contributing to sustainable agriculture and reducing environmental impact.
