This chapter examines the relationship between Human Rights and Social Justice, highlighting their distinct roles in achieving equity. While human rights hold governments accountable, social justice operates locally, shaping community actions. Using a pragmatist approach, the author identifies three key barriers: Distance, Desire, and Membership, which enable indifference, fuel exploitation, and justify exclusion. A functioning Democracy is essential for protecting human rights, with Education playing a critical role in fostering civic engagement. The chapter calls for Transformative Education to challenge sys-temic injustices and expand social justice awareness, moving toward a more equitable global socie-ty.
