In Indonesia, batik is a traditional cloth cultural heritage. Small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the primary producers of batik cloth. Additionally, there are numerous textile companies which, apart from operating in the field of ordinary commercial fabrics, are also engaged in the production of batik cloth. The aim of this research is to conduct descriptive studies on the batik and textile industries in Indonesia. Indonesia’s batik cloth industry is a significant industry. Powered by the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the significance of sustainability, this study explores ways to align the batik cloth and textile industry in Indonesia’s supply chain with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The method in this study uses literature studies and industrial practices in batik SMEs; we can show that several industrial processes in batik cloth SMEs are in accordance with SDGs. Various industries have begun implementing and trying to reach Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as clean water supply and proper sanitation, equal rights of men and women, good job, and adequate health facilities. Currently, batik cloth SMEs have adopted the use of natural dyes in their dyeing procedures, which are both secure and environmentally friendly. In this study, we propose several perspectives that can be done so that the batik cloth and textile industry in Indonesia can increasingly fulfill the SDGs, as well as the role of stakeholders so that the batik cloth industry in Indonesia becomes more advanced.
