The popularization of multimedia services has pushed forward the development of video-capable embedded mobile devices. In this scenario, immersive video systems capable of providing high-quality video-related experience based on the simultaneous exhibition of multiple views are also expected, including systems capable of dealing with high and ultra-high resolutions. To meet this demand, the prominent technology is called multi-view plus depth (MVD), which can produce a realistic immersive experience by generating synthetic video views on the decoder side, reducing the amount of information on the encoder side. This is important because the MVD approach allows an expressive reduction in the amount of information that must be captured, encoded, and transmitted, when compared with previous approaches.
