This chapter tries to assign the concept (and the property) of entropy to the concept of societal (generic) crisis, to find an entropic mark of perceiving, and, if possible, of managing, at the societal level the crisis phenomenology. After discussing how the standard (i.e., Thermodynamical) concept of entropy is used (and, as it seems, supra-used) in social sciences, primarily in the economic field, the concept of order is introduced and analytically examined to find a logical relation between the economic/social order and the economic/social entropy. In such a way own concept of entropy is proposed for the social field, connected to the normative framework and, based on it, the concept of crisicity is introduced in discussion. Finally, the three concepts—entropy, order and crisicity—are put together and a conceptual “map” of the society (societal system) is obtained by the logical (and psychological and institutional) relationships and interactions among the three concepts. All these findings are used, then, to assign them to the typology of the societal (generic) crisis, as established in Chap. 2 .
