An overview of biospeleology is given at the beginning of this chapter. The outcomes of the biospeleological sampling that was done in the caves of the Küre Mountains National Park are then described. Between 2008 and 2010, 200 specimens were taken from 25 caves in this area as part of our inventory and survey work. This was one of the largest biospeleology studies ever conducted in the caves of the Northwest Black Sea Region. This research led to the discovery of 14 new species in addition to species that had not been reported before in the area. A list of every sample collected during this survey can be found in the last section.
