The clavicular defects are caused by pseudoarthrosis, fracture following radiation treatment and osteomyelitis where a segment resection of the clavicle is required. Clavicular osteotomy for surgical exposure of brachial plexus and major vascular tissues under emergency conditions are common reason and may be ended up with clavicular defects. Total claviculectomy may be necessary in tumoral pathologies. Absence of clavicle may be well tolerated in short term; however, glenohumeral pathologies may occur due to scapular dyskinesia in prolonged periods. In short segment defects, union may be achieved with bone grafts, and vascularized corticoperiosteal flaps may accelerate healing. In case of wide segmental deficiencies and insufficient blood supply, reconstruction with vascularized bone flaps should be considered.
