Both malignant and benign tumors can occur at the wrist and hand, with malignant tumors being found less frequently than benign tumors. Because of the large neurovascular structures in close proximity to the bone and tendon structures, surgical treatment of each of these wrist and hand tumors is challenging [1]. Primary malignant tumors of the wrist and hand appear to be extremely rare. The distal radius is an area where primary or metastatic malignant tumors are extremely rare. In Capelastegui’s study of 134 cases presenting with swelling of the wrist and hand, malignant tumors were detected in only three cases (2%) [2]. In a study of 240 cases in which Ostrowski examined bone lesions, malignant tumors were detected in 37 cases (15%) [3]. Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center published a report in 2013 showing that more than 1000 cases of soft tissue sarcoma were treated and only about 29% involved the upper extremity [4]. Grading and staging systems are used to establish guidelines for treatment and standardize research. The Enneking system is used for malignant tumors. In the Enneking system, the presence or absence of metastases, the presence or absence of tumor spread outside the compartment, and the tissue grade of the tumor are evaluated. Benign bone tumors can be classified according to their biological activity [5].

摘要
