Lower limb ulcers pose challenges for patients and healthcare professionals due to their clinical aspects and associated complications, as well as socio-economic issues. While more common in elderly patients, they can also affect individuals of different age groups and often have a slow progression, resulting in cosmetic and functional sequelae that can limit the quality of life of those with the lesions. There are various causes of lower limb ulcers, with vascular, neurotrophic (diabetic, leprosy, and alcoholism), infectious-parasitic, tumorous, hematologic (sickle cell anemia), metabolic (porphyria), collagen-related, and connective tissue and traumatic diseases being among the main ones.
