This chapter discusses the planning of research procedures that yield accurate answers to a clear hypothesis or question. First, the need to refine hypotheses or questions in light of reviewed literature is explained. Next, specific, rigorous procedures are suggested to minimize environmental, researcher, participant, or measurement threats to study validity (accuracy). Finally, identifying risks, resources, and readiness is proposed as a framework to assess the ethics and feasibility of protocol procedures.
