This chapter focuses on preparatory steps that advance project planning. These include refining the research purpose, developing a working title, drafting at least one hypothesis or research question, engaging stakeholders, gathering topic-related literature, identifying institutional review board (IRB) requirements, forms, fees, and deadlines, and completing any IRB-required ethics training. Reasons for not using artificial intelligence (AI) to search literature are stressed.
