Introduction
摘要
This book is a companion text to International Perspectives on Exclusionary Pressures in Education, which highlighted the routine character or everydayness of exclusionary practices in education systems and cultures globally. Theorising Exclusionary Pressures in Education insists that researchers concerned with social justice must go beyond simply cataloguing systemic failures to include and provide theoretically informed analyses of such structural inequities. The concept of intersectionality also features prominently in this companion text given the over-representation of specific demographics in both legal and illegal exclusionary procedures, and in exclusionary practices that are not recognised as such in policy or professional discourse. This book is intended for teacher educators and provides examples of different theoretical approaches mobilised in case studies focused on specific national or geopolitical contexts. It offers students of inclusion–exclusion a variety of analytical approaches as an alternative to technicist discourses or characteristically neoliberal discourses around continual improvement.
