Evidence lies at the forefront of any judicial proceeding, and assumes an even more central role when within the context of international criminal justice. These courts have no enforcement abilities, thus require the support of other entities or nations to collect evidence that could [2] build a case against the perpetrators of the crimes under the court’s mandate. Evidence management systems, and its repositories are now, more than ever, exposed to threats which could include the exfiltration, tampering or destruction of evidence. Blockchain technology with its characteristics of time-stamping, authentication, immutably and trust among independent parties could be the answer to become anti-fragile against these growing threats. This paper uses the Blue Ocean Strategy analysis to verify the validity of a blockchain solution versus current evidence management solutions within the international criminal justice sector. The paper later analyses the literature available within this context to understand the current state of the art in this area of knowledge.
