Spatial Computing: Opportunities and Challenges for the Next Decade

Spatial computing, a rapidly changing field of computer science, augmented reality, and artificial intelligence, which have huge potential for transforming various aspects of our lives (in the next decade). With increasing demand of the physical and digital worlds, spatial computing enables users to interact with their environment in novel and notable ways. This work discusses about the opportunities and challenges that occurs towards spatial computing. Note that the opportunities provided by spatial computing are large i.e., from revolutionizing industries such as healthcare, education, and entertainment sector to enhancing productivity and communication. Today spatial computing has the potential to reshape also how we work, learn, and interact with others. By using technologies like computer vision, sensor fusion, and advanced emerging algorithms, spatial computing enable the interactive experiences that go beyond traditional screens and interfaces. But, with such potential/rapid growth/use in many sectors, it comes with several challenges which need to be addressed by scientific community. Few challenges are development of robust and accurate spatial mapping, tracking algorithms (which use for accurately understand and interpret the physical environment). Also, ensuring privacy and security in spatial computing systems is important, as they collect and process large amount of data (about users and their surroundings). Hence, this research work will discuss its importance, issues and challenges and solutions required for making spatial computing more popular (with building more trust) in detail.
